Quick Search Tips

The Quick Search facility is currently available within the Opinions, Case Notes and Publications sections of the website.

To use the Quick Search facility, type your search criteria into the Search text box and press enter. The website will then search for that content within the section you are currently in (e.g., if you're in the Opinions section it will only search for matching Opinions).

The following Search Tips may help you find the document you're looking for.

Wildcard Searching

The Quick Search facility uses "wild carding" when searching for matching documents. For example, if you enter the word DR it will find any document that contains the consecutive letters DR, such as DRaft, DRess, synDRome, etc. For those familiar with database search techniques, it's similar to searching for %DR%.

Multiple Word Searching

When you use multiple words in the search criteria, the Quick Search facility will find all documents that contain all those words. For example, if you key in DR SMITH, the search facility will find all documents that contain the consecutive letters DR as well as the consecutive letters SMITH. For those familiar with database searching techniques, it's similar to searching for %DR% AND %SMITH%.

Using Quotes

If you want to constrain the search to look for consecutive words, use a single pair of double quotes around all the words you want to search for. For example, if you want to search for all documents containing RIGHT 5(1), key in "RIGHT 5(1)". If you want to find all documents relating to SURGEONS and RIGHT 5(1), key in SURGEON "Right 5(1)".

Searching is NOT Case Sensitive:

The Quick Search facility does not differentiate between upper or lower case characters in the search text or the documents themselves.
