The Health and Disability Commissioner promotes and protects the
rights of health and disability services consumers and facilitates
the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to
infringements of those rights. From 1 July 2012, the Health
and Disability Commissioner will undertake advocacy and monitoring
in the mental health and addiction sector, alongside its current
role.
The Mental Health Commissioner will require high-level
administrative support to ensure the effective day-to-day
management of the support services for that division.
This diverse role requires:
- experience working as an EA at a senior executive level;
- excellent oral communication skills and effective listening
skills;
- the ability to produce logically presented and clearly written
material;
- the ability to work independently, multi-task and use
initiative, and the ability to prioritise;
- the ability to build effective working relationships with a
broad range of people and organisations, including service users
and their families;
- personal integrity, sound judgment and an honest and ethical
approach;
- excellent time management skills with the ability to meet
deadlines.
You are expected to have an
understanding and acceptance of the principles of the Treaty of
Waitangi.

Nursing Advisor (Auckland)

The Health and Disability Commissioner promotes and protects the
rights of health and disability services consumers and facilitates
the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to
infringements of those rights.
HDC is looking for a senior nurse with management
experience in secondary care systems and/or rest home care to
provide clinical advice on complaints, for 15-20 hours per week.
This role requires:
- experience as a registered nurse;
- a current annual practising certificate;
- highly developed communication and analytical skills;
- a post graduate qualification in nursing;
- excellent oral communication skills and effective listening
skills.
Recent experience in the aged care sector is highly
desirable.
You are expected to have an understanding and acceptance of the
principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
