Executive Assistant (Wellington)

The Health and Disability Commissioner promotes and protects the rights of health and disability services consumers and facilitates the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringement of those rights. 

The primary purpose of this role is to provide administrative and secretarial support to specific members of the Executive Leadership Team and manage certain delegated projects and tasks on behalf of the Chief Legal Advisor.

This role requires:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with people from a wide cross-section of the community, including professional, administrative and consumer groups, people from non-English speaking backgrounds and people with disabilities
  • Ability to produce logically presented and clearly written material using:      

-          MS Word 2000

-          Excel (high level of proficiency required)

-          Lotus Notes

-          Powerpoint

  • Strong keyboarding skills (no less than 70 words per minute).  A high attention to detail and accuracy is essential
  • Competent dictaphone and copy typing
  • The capacity to manage time and meet deadlines; as well as enforce deadlines
  • Good organisational skills
  • A proactive, flexible and team-oriented approach       
  • A mature and professional approach, demonstrating an appropriate standard of confidentiality, judgement and commitment to customer service
  • An ability to take and accept direction
  • An understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and the aims and aspirations of Maori
  • An understanding of the social, religious beliefs and values of different cultural and ethnic groups in New Zealand
