Te Toihau Hauora, Hauātanga/the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) is the independent watchdog for people’s rights when using health and disability services, resolving complaints and working with providers to improve the health and disability system.  

The Communications Manager will be responsible for leading internal and external communications and engagement, and provide strategic advice to the Commissioner and leadership team.

This is a Wellington based, full-time role leading a small team.

  • Significant hands-on communication experience
  • Strong experience in media management and stakeholder engagement
  • Enjoy variety and be able to meet competing deadlines
  • Adept at providing communications advice that is both strategic and practical
  • Be approachable, a team player and have exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Experience in the health sector is valuable, but not a requirement
  • An awareness and understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi
